Hello, I'm Robert. I'm a Certified Emotionally Focused Couples Therapist (EFCT) working with individuals and couples throughout the Bay Area.
Couples often come to me feeling stuck in the same argument, disconnected, or unsure whether repair is possible. EFCT is an evidence-based approach that helps you understand the cycle you're caught in and find your way back to trust and connection. I have advanced training and experience with couples affected by ADHD, couples healing from betrayal or infidelity, and male couples seeking an affirming and experienced therapist.
With individuals, I work with both men and women navigating anxiety, overwhelm, and the lasting effects of difficult experiences. We first address what feels most overwhelming so you can find your footing. From there, we go deeper into the emotional patterns and old hurts that shape how you feel and relate to others. My work draws on AEDP, a well-researched relational approach rooted in attachment theory, along with parts work and practical tools for steadying things now.
Before becoming a therapist I spent 20 years in nonprofit community work and began my career in engineering, a background that helps me recognize the patterns that keep people stuck.
