Learning Objectives:

 

  1. Participants will be knowledgeable of the difference between privacy, privilege and confidentiality,
  2. Participants will be knowledgeable of specific laws and regulations regarding confidentiality and privilege that affect the clinicians work with adolescents,
  3. Participants will be knowledgeable of ethical considerations regarding the privacy rights of adolescents in psychotherapy.

 

Presenter: Michael B. Donner, PhD, is a Marriage and Family Therapist (inactive) psychoanalyst and clinical and forensic psychologist in Oakland, California. He is the immediate Past-President of the San Francisco Center for Psychoanalysis (SFCP) and a past chair of the SFCP Faculty Co-Chair and a member of the Ethics and Impairment Committee. He teaches, publishes and consults on Legal and ethical issues for Mental Health Professionals and  on matters relating to Child Custody Evaluations to Family Law Professionals in California and across the Country. He was the Director of Training and Chief Psychologist at Walnut Creek Hospital, an inpatient Adult, Child and Adolescent treatment psychiatric hospital. He has been 

treating adolescents for over 35 years.


This course is appropriate for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and LEPs of any level of experience, in private practice, non-profit and hospital settings.

 

Meeting schedule:

 

  • 3:45-4:00p registration
  • 4:00-5:00p topic presentation
  • 5:00-5:10p break
  • 5:10-6:00p topic presentation

 

SF CAMFT is a CAMFT approved CEU provider (#62283).  The above course meets the qualifications for two hours of continuing education credit for LMFTs, LCSWs, LPCCs and/or LEPs, as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.  If you are interested in obtaining CEUs, you may do so by paying $10 (cash or check) at the beginning of the workshop.  To qualify for CE credit, you must arrive on time, sign in at the CE table, stay until the end of the program, turn in the evaluation and pick up your certificate.
